MARIJA KRTOLICA

Marija Krtolica is a native of Belgrade. She has been making dance-theater since the early 1990s. Marija was a presidential fellow at Temple University, and earned a PhD in dance in 2018 with the dissertation: The Embodiment of the Unconscious: Hysteria, Surrealism and Tanztheater. Additionally, she has a MA in Performance Studies, BFA in dance (Tisch School of the Arts, NYU). and a MFA in choreography, which she earned while on the full scholarship at UC Davis. In her recent work, Marija aims to join an experimental artistic practice with a critical analysis of changing meanings of the expressive embodiment in the society. Recently, Marija’s work was presented by The Brick, Crossroads Curated Series (Pioneers Go East at Judson Memorial Church), Mark DeGarmo Virtual Salon, and Marxist Education Project. In June 2022, Marija’s collaborativr evening-long dance-theater project —“Re-Inventing Love”, was performed at The Players Theatre.
