Pedagogical Practice Program

The application will open in February 2026 for May-December 2026.

MOtiVE is proud to host an annual international exchange with Bergen Dansesenter (Norway), fostering long-term artistic dialogue, shared practice, and cross-cultural collaboration between independent movement-based artists.

The exchange supports artists through research-based residencies, studio access, and opportunities for informal sharing, allowing participants to deepen their practice while engaging with new artistic and cultural contexts. Each year, artists from Bergen and New York are welcomed into one another’s communities, creating space for experimentation, mutual learning, and sustained relationships beyond a single project or visit.

This ongoing partnership will continue in 2026, reaffirming our shared commitment to international exchange as a vital tool for artistic growth, solidarity, and expanded modes of working across borders.

Mentorship Program

Supports a small cohort of four artists with weekly rehearsal space and mentorship from peers and invited mentors. This program is more concentrated than For The Artists!, providing deeper support tailored to each project.

Overall, our values of equity and inclusion drive our commitment to welcoming diverse artists, ensuring fairness in our selection process, and providing customized support to foster an inclusive and caring artistic community. Our mission is to solve the isolation and lack of support we have faced in our own creative practices, one residency, one mentorship, and one personal connection at a time.

The application will open in May 2026 for Fall 2026
