JENN NUGENT

I am a white queer femme currently residing on the unceded lands of the Lenape people which is also now called Brooklyn. I address my body, mind and being through questioning. Articulating my internal experiences through performance and teaching, I augment these practices by sharing and refining my ideas in front of others—a transmission of spoken and gestural language.

My dancing is profoundly inspired by Daniel Lepkoff, Wendell Beavers, Patty Townsend, Thomas F. DeFrantz, and Paul Matteson. I have performed most notably with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company (NYC 2009-2014), Paul Matteson (NYC 2002-2020), David Dorfman Dance from (NYC 1999-2007), and Martha Clarke (NYC 2007-2008). I continue to perform, make work, and currently teach at Sarah Lawrence College, (NY), Gibney Dance (NYC), and the virtual platform freeskewl where I have initiated a monthly series called Pedagogy/Poetic Entry.
