2024 MONTHLY
SPACE GRANT PROGRAM
STARTING IN MAY
Starting in May, MOtiVE will offer month-long space grants to a small cohort of New York-based artists (8-10 artists per month).
The grant includes 26 hours of reserved studio space in the MOtiVE studio at the reduced rate of $260 per month ($10 / hr per studio hour) and 3.3% + $0.30 processing fee for each monthly booking transaction and/or refund.
This space grant is ideal for artists who have an upcoming project / performance and need an intensive time in the studio, wish to host an ongoing class / workshop, want to maintain a daily practice, or are looking for a consistent studio space where their materials can be stored.
Some perks of the program include:
Access to our storage unit, so artists can keep their materials in one place during their month-long rental
Priority in accessing the booking calendar before the public
A familiar and consistent place to practice
MOtiVE provides grantees with mentorship and administrative assistance as needed
MOtiVE will advertise / boost artists and their upcoming events on our social platforms
Flexibility in renting space for 1 month, consecutive months or throughout the year
Applications are open for artists interested in participating for any month(s) between May - December 2024. Acceptance will be on a rolling basis.

This int/adv dance class is a way for me to share some of my physical research from the past few years with my dance community. We will move through both improvisational and choreographed exercises that awaken our relationship to space, gravity, breath and directionality. Class will culminate in buoyant and rhythmic phrase work that builds on what we’ve been practicing. Each class will have a similar structure with some repeated material, and some new.
March 11th class features live music by Jonah Udall.

MOtiVE’S INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM
We are overjoyed to announce our first international exchange with Bergen Dansesenter!
Each partner organization will provide studio space, accommodation, and artist services for each artist. We are excited at the prospects of this international partnership with Bergen Dansesenter and all the opportunities it will bring for artists to make those impactful relationships and experiences.
